Internal Audit Consulting & Co-Sourcing
Independent Internal Audit Support When You Need Additional Capacity, Expertise or Assurance
Muzamani provides internal audit consulting, co-sourcing and project-based support to organisations that need additional audit capacity, specialist expertise or an independent assessment of high-risk areas.
Our approach covers the internal audit lifecycle, from risk assessment and audit planning through audit execution, reporting and follow-up. Our methodology is designed with reference to the IIA Global Internal Audit Standards and the regulatory and governance requirements relevant to each engagement.
When Internal Audit Capacity Becomes a Problem
Internal audit functions can face challenges when:
- The approved audit plan exceeds available resources.
- Vacancies, staff turnover or leave create gaps in audit coverage.
- Specialist expertise in IT controls, cybersecurity, SCM, risk or data analytics is unavailable internally.
- Management requires an independent review of a high-risk area.
- The organisation needs additional internal audit capacity for a defined period.
- An Audit Committee requires independent assurance over a specific risk or control area.
- A smaller organisation needs effective internal audit capability without maintaining a large permanent function.
Muzamani provides flexible support designed around the organisation’s risk profile, audit plan and reporting requirements.

Reports are designed to provide management and Audit Committees with clear, evidence-based conclusions, practical recommendations and agreed management actions.

Engagement Models
Co-Sourced Internal Audit
Muzamani works alongside your existing internal audit team to provide additional capacity or specialist expertise. This model can support delivery of the approved audit plan without requiring permanent expansion of the internal audit function.
Outsourced Internal Audit
Muzamani provides agreed internal audit services under a defined engagement and governance arrangement. This may include selected elements of the internal audit lifecycle or a broader outsourced service where appropriate.
Project-Based Internal Audit
A specific audit, risk or control area is reviewed under an agreed scope, timetable and set of deliverables. This is suitable for high-risk areas, special reviews and specific Audit Committee requirements.
Temporary or Embedded Support
A suitably experienced resource supports your internal audit team for an agreed period to address a defined capacity or specialist skills requirement.
Engagement responsibilities, reporting lines, scope and deliverables are agreed before work begins.

Independence, Objectivity and Quality
Muzamani assesses potential conflicts of interest before accepting an assurance engagement.
We do not undertake assurance work where previous advisory involvement creates a self-review threat that cannot be appropriately managed. Engagement responsibilities and reporting arrangements are agreed at the outset.
Each engagement has a designated lead responsible for the quality and delivery of the work. Where appropriate, audit work and reports are subject to supervisory review before issue.
Working papers and supporting evidence are maintained in accordance with the agreed methodology, engagement requirements and confidentiality arrangements.
Standards and Regulatory Frameworks
Engagements are tailored to the organisation’s regulatory, governance and operating environment..
Depending on the nature of the assignment, our work may be informed by:
- IIA Global Internal Audit Standards
- COSO Internal Control Framework
- COSO Enterprise Risk Management Framework
- ISO 31000
- COBIT
- King governance principles, where applicable
- PFMA and applicable Treasury requirements
- MFMA and applicable National Treasury requirements
- Applicable organisational policies, legislation and regulatory requirements
The relevant criteria are agreed during engagement planning and reflected in the audit scope and programme.
Why Muzamani?
Muzamani combines practical internal audit experience with specialist capability in IT audit, IT controls, supply chain management, risk management, governance and data analytics.
This enables us to assess financial, operational, procurement, technology and governance risks within a connected audit approach where the engagement requires it.
Our approach is practitioner-led, risk-based and focused on producing clear findings, practical recommendations and evidence that management and governance structures can use to monitor corrective action.
Need Additional Internal Audit Capacity?
If your internal audit team needs additional capacity, specialist expertise or an independent assessment of a priority risk, we can discuss the appropriate engagement model for your organisation.
